Some journeys are just trips. Chardham Yatra is different. For most families, this pilgrimage to the four sacred shrines of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath in Uttarakhand is something they plan for years and talk about long after. At NTP Groups, we have been putting together Chardham Yatra tour packages for over a decade, and we know what pilgrims actually need on the road, not just what looks good on a brochure. Whether you are a first-timer from Delhi, a group of senior devotees from Hyderabad, or a family looking for a helicopter option to skip the long mountain drives, this page covers every package we offer, along with route distances, a day-by-day itinerary, what is included, and what is not.

The Chardham Yatra follows a fixed sequence starting with Yamunotri in the west and ending with Badrinath in the north-east. This order is considered spiritually auspicious and also makes practical sense on the road, avoiding unnecessary backtracking through the narrow Himalayan highways.
The full circuit from Delhi and back covers roughly 1,500 to 1,800 km by road. Here is how the journey breaks down, leg by leg:
The two toughest legs on the body are the Kedarnath trek (18 km one way from Gaurikund) and the Yamunotri trek (6 km one way from Janki Chatti). Pony, palki, doli, and helicopter services are available at both shrines for pilgrims who prefer not to walk.
This is our most popular Chardham Yatra tour package. The itinerary below is a standard plan and gives you a clear picture of what the journey actually looks like on the ground. Actual timings may vary by a day depending on weather, road conditions, and temple darshan schedules.
Leave Delhi early in the morning by private vehicle. The drive goes through Dehradun and Mussoorie, around 450 km in total and taking 10 to 11 hours. Barkot is the base town for Yamunotri. Check in, rest, and settle in for the journey ahead. Overnight stay at Barkot.
After breakfast, drive 30 km to Janki Chatti. From here, take the 6 km trek or a pony ride up to Yamunotri temple, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. Visit the Surya Kund hot springs, cook rice in the thermal waters as is the tradition, and seek blessings at the temple. Return trek to Janki Chatti, then drive back to Barkot. Overnight at Barkot.
Drive from Barkot to Uttarkashi, around 100 km and 3 to 4 hours. Uttarkashi is a lively town with the Vishwanath Temple right in the centre. Check in to the hotel, visit the local market in the evening, and rest up for the Gangotri visit the next morning. Overnight at Uttarkashi.
Drive 100 km from Uttarkashi to Gangotri temple, the origin point of the river Ganga. Attend morning aarti, seek blessings at the shrine, and visit Bhagirathi Shila nearby. Unlike Yamunotri, Gangotri is fully accessible by road so there is no trek involved. Return to Uttarkashi in the afternoon. Overnight at Uttarkashi.
An early start for the longest drive of the trip, around 250 km from Uttarkashi to Guptkashi through Chamba, Tehri, and Rudraprayag. This takes roughly 8 to 9 hours. Guptkashi is the base town for Kedarnath and has temples worth a quick visit in the evening. Overnight at Guptkashi.
Drive 30 km to Gaurikund and begin the 18 km trek to Kedarnath. Pony, palki, and helicopter options are available. Arrive at Kedarnath, check in to the campsite or guesthouse, and attend evening aarti at the Kedarnath temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva. Overnight at Kedarnath.
Wake up early for morning darshan at Kedarnath temple before the crowds arrive. Trek back down to Gaurikund, then drive to Rudraprayag for an overnight rest. This is a quieter recovery day after two demanding days at Kedarnath.
Drive from Rudraprayag to Badrinath, around 175 km and 5 to 6 hours through the Chamoli district. Pass through Joshimath and stop at Vishnuprayag, one of the five Panch Prayag confluences along the way. Arrive at Badrinath, check in, and attend evening aarti at the temple. Overnight at Badrinath.
Rise early for morning darshan at Badrinath, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. After the darshan, visit Mana village just 3 km away, the last Indian village before the Tibet border. Walk through the Vyas and Ganesh caves, cross Bhim Pul over the Saraswati river, and take in the mountain views. Overnight at Badrinath.
Drive from Badrinath to Haridwar, around 300 km and 8 to 9 hours. Arrive in time for the famous Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri in the evening. A beautiful way to close the four-shrine circuit. Overnight at Haridwar.
Optional morning visit to the Haridwar ghats before the drive back to Delhi, around 220 km and 4 to 5 hours. The Chardham Yatra concludes on arrival in Delhi.
The Char Dham temples open around Akshaya Tritiya, usually in late April or early May, and close after Diwali in late October or November. Within that window:
For pilgrims who cannot travel in the main season, NTP Groups runs a Winter Chardham from Delhi package visiting the winter seats of the four deities at Kharsali, Mukhymath, Ukhimath, and Pandukeshwar, where darshan continues through the winter months.
The 2026 Chardham season is expected to be busy, and helicopter slots in particular fill up several months in advance. If you are planning to travel in May or June, we recommend getting in touch now so we can block your dates and put together a package that fits your group.
