A major part of Gautam Buddha's life was spent in India as this was the place where he went through the journey from attaining Nirvana to Parinirvana (nirvana-after-death). During his life, he has been to many locations with his disciples to preach and teach the principles of moral thoughts and actions. Most of these places have now temples, stupas, gardens or monasteries. If this holiday, you want to spend some time in serenity to unwind your spirits then there are no better places than the Buddha temples sprinkled in India and Nepal. Considering all the good number Buddhist temples in India and Nepal, NTP India Tourism has designed a package ' Buddhist Pilgrimage with Goldern Triangle Tour. In just sixteen days, this tour will take you to not only the major Buddhist pilgrimages but also to the Golden Triangle sites- Agra, Jaipur, and Delhi. A visit to all these places will be inspirational and offers an insight into the life of Buddha.

 

This sixteen-day extravagant tour commences the movement you will arrive in Delhi. In the initial five days of the tour, you will explore the classic golden triangle cities- Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra. From Agra, you will board a train for Varanasi to visit the Sarnath, the city where Buddha came after attaining enlightenment and delivered his first sermon. After visiting the place where he gave his first speech, you will proceed to Bodh Gaya to see the place where Buddha obtained enlightenment. After spending a day in Bodh Gaya, drive to Patna. To make the four-hour journey, from Bodh Gaya to Patna, more interesting, you will enjoy a stopover at the Nalanda to see the ancient university; Gridhakuta Hill to see the places where Buddha delivered dialogues to his disciples; and Rajgir, the place where Buddha first council was held. From Patna, you will drive to Kushinagar to see the place where Buddha attained Parinirvana after his death but before that there will be a small stopover at Vaishali to see the place where Buddha preached his last sermon. Further, visit Shravasti to see the age-old stupas, majestic viharas, and several temples. On the day thirteen, leave India territory and visit the Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha. In Lumbini, visit the Maya Devi Temple, which according to the Buddhist scholars is the birth place of Buddha On this tour you will also visit the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu, which is also the last destination of the trip.

 

Departure from Kathmandu marks the end of the tour. For detailed information about the tour, go through the detailed itineraries mentioned as follows

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Delhi


On arrival in Delhi, meet our representative who will transfer you to your hotel in Delhi. The evening will be free for leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at the Delhi hotel.

Day 2: Delhi Sightseeing

Today, you will visit Raj Ghat, Shanti Vana, Jama Masjid, Qutub Minar, Humayun Tomb, India gate, and Lakshmi Narayan Temple. During the sightseeing tour, you will pass by Red Fort, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Parliament House and famous Secretariat buildings. Dinner and overnight stay at the New Delhi hotel.

Day 3: Delhi - Jaipur

Today, you will go for a city sightseeing tour. You will visit Amber Fort and City Palace. Drive past Hawa Mahal & through the pink rose residential & business areas. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 4: Jaipur

Today, you will go for a city sightseeing tour. You will visit Amber Fort, and City Palace. Drive past Hawa Mahal & through the pink rose residential & business areas. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 5: Jaipur - Agra

Post breakfast, drive to Agra via Fatehpur Sikri. Upon arrival at Agra, check-in the hotel and later visit Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Dinner and overnight stay at the Agra hotel.

Day 6: Agra - Varanasi

In the morning, after breakfast, visit Agra Fort, which was initially built as the military establishment by King Akbar. Rest of the day will be free for leisure and in the evening you will be transferred to a railway station to board a train for Varanasi. Overnight train journey.

Day 7: Arrive Varanasi

Upon arrival in Varanasi, check in the hotel and after breakfast go for the sightseeing tour. Today, in the first half, you will visit Vishwanath Temple, Bharat Mata Temple, Tulsi Manas Temple. While in the second half, drive to Sarnath, which would take approximately 20-30 minutes. Sarnath was the place where Gautama Buddha first taught the Dharma, and where the Buddhist Sangha came into existence.

Day 8: Varanasi - Bodh Gaya

In the morning, go for the famed boat ride. And then go back to the hotel for breakfast. Post breakfast, drive to Bodh Gaya. Overnight stay at the Bodh Gaya hotel.

Day 9: Bodhgaya

Today, you will go for the Bodh Gaya sightseeing tour. After breakfast, visit the Mahabodhi Temple, a magnificent UNESCO world Heritage site that marks the hallowed ground where Buddha attained enlightenment and formulated his philosophy of life. Also within the temple complex, you can see the sacred Bodhi Tree, under which Gautam Buddha attained enlightenment. Dinner and overnight stay at the Bodh Gaya hotel.

Day 10: Bodhgaya - Nalanda - Rajgir - Patna

Post breakfast at the hotel, drive to Patna. During the journey, firstly you will visit Nalanda, one of the ancient world's great universities and a major Buddhist center of academic excellence. Later, you will embark on a 20 km ride to Rajgir to see Griddhkuta 'Hill of Vultures,' a heritage site where Lord Buddha spent several months meditating and teaching Dharma. After that, visit Saptparni caves where Buddha's first council was organized and is also a source of Rajgir's hot springs. After the sightseing tour, proceed to Patna for overnight stay and dinner.

Day 11: Patna - Vaishali - Kushinagar

Post breakfast, drive to Kushinagar. En-route, visit Vaishali, the ancient city where Lord Buddha preached his last sermon. In Vaishali, you can see Stupa 1 and 11 (14th century B.C), which are built in brick with a casket containing part of ashes of Buddha. After a brief stopover at the Vaishali, go to Kushinagar for overnight stay and dinner.

Day 12: Kushinagar - Shravasti

Post breakfast at the hotel, go for the sightseeing tour of Kushinagar. Here, you can see the ancient stupas and modern temples, commemorating the Buddha's death and cremation. Later drive to Shravasti for overnight stay and dinner.

Day 13: Shravasti - Lumbini

Post breakfast, drive to Shravasti, the ancient town where Lord Buddha passed the greater part of his monastic life and preached after the enlightenment. When in Shravasti, see the Ananda Bodhi tree where Lord Buddha meditated for a night and then visit Jetavan where Lord Buddha performed some miracle. Later continue drive to Lumbini. Overnight stay and dinner at the Lumbini hotel.

Day 14: Lumbini - Kathmandu (By Flight)

Post breakfast at Lumbini, visit the Lumbini Park, Mayadevi temple, and China temple. After the sightseeing tour, travel to the airport to board a flight to Kathmandu.

Day 15: In Kathmandu

Today, you will go for Kathmandu sightseeing tour. You will visit Pashupatinath Temple, Patan city, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Temple of the Living Goddess, old Royal Palace, and Tibetan Handicraft center. Dinner and overnight stay at Kathmandu.

Day 16: Departure

Post breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport to board a flight for journey onwards.
