Amarnath Cave Pilgrimage

 The Amarnath Yatra is known as the Amarnath Pilgrimage. This is a Hindu pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave shrine is situated in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. The cave is situated in the Himalayan Region at an altitude of 13,500 feet (4,100 m). The shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva, one of the three main deities of Hindu Religion. Every year, millions of pilgrims from all over the world visit the shrine. The pilgrimage takes place in the summer season, from June to August. The exact dates of the pilgrimage vary each year, depending on the Hindu calendar and decision of Amarnath Shrine Board.

 The Amarnath Yatra is a difficult trek pilgrimage. The pilgrims on the route opt for the trekking & helicopter route or doli/Pony. Pilgrims trek for several days to reach the shrine. However, the pilgrims are rewarded with the sight of the natural ice formation of Shiva Lingam, which is believed to be a manifestation of Lord Shiva.

Shrikhand Mahadev Kailash is one of the five Panch Kailash yatras, which includes Kailash Mansarovar, Manimahesh, Kinnar Kailash and Adi Kailash. Shrikhand Mahadev is one of the toughest pilgrimages in India and is situated in Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh . Shrikhand Mahadev is a naturally formed Shivling that is around 75 feet in height situated at around 5000-5140 m  (16404-16864 feet ) in Himachal Pradesh (India), where you reach after an arduous trek of around 25 kms one way and around 50 kms total.

Once you reach the top you are mesmerized by a naturally formed rock in the shape of a Shivling, which stands around 75 feet tall. From the top, you get a breathtaking view of the Himalayan ranges from the Parvati valley of Kullu,Kartikey peak, Jorkandan, the Rangrik ranges of Kinnaur, Kinnar Kailash and other surrounding peaks to the southeast of Sutlej.

The Kinner Kailash Trek begins in Tangling, a lovely village on the left bank of the Sutlej River. It takes six days to finish. In the direction of Ganesh Park, the terrain is quite steep. According to Hindu mythology, this is where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati first met. You will reach Gufa after crossing Ganesh Park, and then Parvati Kund, which is located immediately below the Kinnaur Kailash.

Wildflowers and Brahma Kamal can be found along the trail. Keep an eye out for stones, rocky terrain, and steep routes. The steep walk from Parvati Kund leads to the top, where you will find yourself in front of the gigantic Kinner Kailash Shivalingam.

Best Time for Manimahesh Trek

There is a lot of snow till June which can make your Manimahesh Yatra and trek very uncomfortable and not very nice. The best time to go for the Manimahesh Yatra is the end of August when there is almost no snowfall and the weather is very clear with no bad weather conditions. September is also a good option as the daytime temperature is between 12 to 20°C. However, you must note that the nights in September can be cool and the temperature can drop below -5°C.
