The Do Dham Yatra refers to the pilgrimage that involves visiting two out of the four sacred sites of Char Dham, namely Badrinath and Kedarnath. While the Char Dham Yatra includes all four sites, the Do Dham Yatra focuses on these two prominent shrines dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva, respectively.

  1. Badrinath: Located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, Badrinath is considered one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Hinduism. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is situated at an altitude of around 3,300 meters (10,827 feet) in the Garhwal Himalayas. The main attraction is the Badrinath Temple, which is believed to be established by Adi Shankaracharya. Pilgrims visit the temple to seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu and to experience spiritual enlightenment.

  2. Kedarnath: Situated in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, Kedarnath is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located at an altitude of approximately 3,583 meters (11,755 feet) in the Garhwal Himalayas. The main highlight of Kedarnath is the Kedarnath Temple, which is known for its scenic surroundings and rich mythological significance. Pilgrims undertake a strenuous trek or can opt for helicopter services to reach the temple and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.

The Do Dham Yatra typically starts from Rishikesh or Haridwar, and devotees can choose various modes of transportation, including road, helicopter, or a combination of both, to visit Badrinath and Kedarnath. The yatra attracts numerous devotees who seek spiritual solace and wish to cleanse their souls by visiting these sacred shrines.

It is important to note that the yatra can be physically demanding due to the high-altitude locations and challenging terrain. Pilgrims are advised to prepare themselves adequately and seek medical advice if necessary. It is also essential to check with local authorities and travel agencies for the latest information, as the yatra can be subject to weather conditions and seasonal variations.
